SC 00 / In-house marketing teams

Build your team'svideo skillsin-house.

Many marketing teams find in-house video a struggle.

It's not your team's fault. Most marketing teams have had little training in video planning and production. The result is video that isn't quite on brand, hours lost figuring out equipment and software, and editing sessions that end in a video nobody is happy with, without knowing why.

I meet your team where they are, with a tailored plan to build their video capability through training and coaching on your real projects: strategy, planning, shooting and the edit. The result is more video from the people you already have, on brand, with results you can show.

SC 01 / Where most teams are

Your team was handed video.Nobody handed themany training.

You're not alone

54%

of companies now have an in-house video team, up from 36% two years earlier. More of that work falls to marketers and subject experts, not video specialists.

62%

of marketers feel at least one negative emotion when they're asked to make a video.

If any of these sound familiar, you're in good company. Most teams I meet are here.

01

Do you find problems in the edit, when it's too late to reshoot?

02

Are hours disappearing into editing software?

03

Is there no one with video experience checking work before it goes out?

04

Are your videos getting views but no results?

Good people shouldn't have to learn video by trial and error.

SC 02 / The answer

Keep video in-house.Build the skills to do it well.

You don't need an agency for every video, or a full-time video hire. Your own people need the skills. I train and coach your team through real projects, from the plan to the shoot to the final cut, and review their work until the next video is easier than the last. For larger teams with a steady pipeline, I can also act as your part-time senior video lead.

01 · Your team keeps

The camera, the edit, the ideas, the credit. Video stays in-house and gets better every month.

02 · I bring

A producer's eye and a marketer's head: strategy, planning, directing and reviewing, from 20 years of video for brands like GFO, Syngenta and Ontario's mutual insurers.

03 · You get

Video that looks professional and gets results, at a fraction of an agency or a full-time hire.

Step 02INT. EDIT SUITE — DAY

Get your Video Diagnosis

Show me your last few videos. We find what isn't working together, and you leave with an action plan.

Step 03INT. ON LOCATION — DAY

SC 05 / What changes

Turn yourmarketing teaminto a video team.

More capacity, without adding headcount. Here's what your team can do by the end.

  1. 01

More video from the team you have

A repeatable process from brief to final cut, with AI doing the busywork, so video stops eating the week.

  2. 02

Video that looks like your brand

Clean sound, good light, a consistent look, and real people who come across like themselves.

  3. 03

    A plan behind every video

Each one starts with an audience, one message and a goal, and fits your marketing plan.

  4. 04

Shoots that go right the first time

A shot list before the camera rolls. No more fixing it in the edit.

  5. 05

Results you can show your boss

You know what each video was for, and whether it worked.

  6. 06

A team that needs me less every month

The goal is your team doing it well on their own.

SC 08 / In plain words

What is a fractional video lead?

A fractional video lead is a senior video professional who works with your marketing or communications team on an ongoing basis, without being a full-time hire. Your team keeps making video in-house. I provide the planning, creative direction, training and reviews a senior video person would, so your video looks professional and gets results. I work with Canadian organizations of 50 to 1,000 people, especially mutual insurers, credit unions, farm organizations and agri-businesses, equipment dealers, and home builders and brokerages. Most teams start with a Video Diagnosis, a review of their recent videos that ends in an action plan. From there, teams join the 90-Day Video Build, where they make a real video with coaching at every step, book hands-on workshops, or, for a steady video pipeline, add a senior video lead for six months of planning, footage reviews and cut reviews. Based in Elmira, Ontario. On-site across Ontario, and virtual across Canada.
